## What is CVE-2026-6554?

libpcap BPF interpreter treats the offset in the 'ja L' BPF instruction as a signed integer to implement looping via backward jumps, but it does not limit the number of loop iterations. In particular uncommon use cases a crafted filter program can cause the interpreter to loop infinitely.

The record classifies CVE-2026-6554 under weakness class [CWE-835](https://intel.threadlinqs.com/cwe/CWE-835). Its CVSS v3 base vector states that the flaw requires local access to the host, needs low-privilege credentials, needs no user interaction, and has high impact on availability. 1 affected-product entry is recorded, across 1 vendor, listed below. The identifier was first published 30 days ago.
